Track Covered: Friday’s Dust

From a very early age I’ve been in love with everything musical; playing instruments, singing, listening and just really appreciating music as a whole. Because of this fascination, I have just started a degree in Studio and Live Music Production at the Manchester School of Sound Recording which hopefully will allow me to pursue a career in this field.

Although I’ve been passionate about and influenced by music throughout my life, I’d never done anything like this project before. I love every single fantastic Doves track but Friday’s Dust has always been a really interesting song to me. Both the Last Broadcast version and the Capital Tower Session versions of the song are so intriguing. They really make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, but in an almost sort of comforting way. To me, Friday’s Dust is one of those many Doves songs which allow the listener to feel so many different feelings and emotions within the space of 3½ minutes. There’s something special about it that really captures and holds your attention within the first few seconds.

Doves are just purely amazing! Without a shadow of a doubt my favourite band. Just to have been given the opportunity to be involved with this project and to cover one of their numerous spine tingling tracks has been an absolute privilege and without doubt, a real honour.

Hope you enjoy the track 🙂
